Moonrise Over Tioga Pass - Behind The Photo
I’m starting a new “behind the photo” series where I narrate a quick story about each image. Let me know if you like it in the notes below and which photos you’d like to know more about.
5:15 pm Thursday, October 14, 2021. I had spent a beautiful fall afternoon in the Yosemite Valley and headed toward Hwy 395 via Tiago pass before it became dark. Most of the vacationers were gone for the summer, and the roads were mostly empty. As I rounded the turn, I was greeted with this incredible Moonrise and the last sliver of light cresting the peak. The previous night's storm hand left the season's first dusting of snow. I pulled over, grabbed my camera off the front seat, walked to the middle of the road, and made this image. Within less than three minutes, the sun was down, and I don't think I've ever felt it get so cold so fast.
Over and Out,
